The annual Rotary leadership cycle presents challenges to Rotarians at all levels.  Rotary Clubs are seeing the need to look beyond day-to-day operations and, in rare circumstances, annual goals.

What can a Strategic Plan (or Club Vision) do for your Rotary Club?
  • Get buy-in from the membership by including past, current, and incoming officers in the planning process, as well as mix of seasoned and new members.
  • Go outside your club to find facilitators who are knowledgeable about both Rotary and Planning.
  • Use the Club Leadership Plan (Click Here)
  • Write it down.  Having a written document that passes from one Club President to the next promotes continuity.
  • Spend time discussing the Club's culture ("how we do things here") and define your aspriational values as well as your actual ones.
  • Appoint a President's Council or similar strategic group to implement the plan and track results.
  • Connect the annual budget to the strategic plan.
  • Set a reasonable number of goals.  Too many can make the task seem overwhelming.
  • Keep asking, "How are we doing?" and review the plan at board meetings, club assemblies, and in between.
