A new Rotary year calls for new initiatives. We have formed some new committees at the District level that will help support our Clubs and members in multiple ways. This includes a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, a Strategic Plan committee, and a new Public Image Committee with a focus on expanding social media. With the reintroduction of an in-person District Conference again, for the first time in three years, we also have reactivated a District Conference committee. Keep an eye on District communications over the next few months as we imagine District 7850 in new ways.

Wendy Franklin of the Newport Rotary Club shares a new Club event: Newport Rotary Club Runs First Ever Ping Pong Ball Drop!
The Newport, Vermont Rotary Club needed an additional fundraiser in 2022, to make up for its longtime basketball tournament not being held due to the pandemic. On the 4th of July, we tried the first ever Lindy Palin Fly-Over, which was a resounding success! Lindy Palin was a longtime Rotarian and Veteran who flew multiple missions in WWII, and it fit together with Rotarian Dan Gauvin flying the plane. Rotarian and Army paratrooper, Jim Jarvis, dropped the ping pong balls, with the 12 closest to the target winning prizes. The club raised more than $14,000 for this first-time event, which will become an annual!
