EPEC – Enhancing Participant Engagement Committee

Since the holidays were rapidly approaching, during our last monthly District DEI Zoom Conversation, we took some time to discuss our experiences with a variety of religious and cultural traditions.  One of the questions we asked ourselves was how our clubs celebrated, recognized, highlighted, or addressed differences among our members, and how we took those differences into account when planning meetings and social gatherings.  How about your club?
Recently, Rotary International’s DEI Advisory Council has evolved into the Enhancing Participant Engagement Committee.  The reason for this move was to make our core values of diversity, respect, and the creation of welcoming environments more actionable.  What’s changing is the way we frame this work: ensuring that belonging, engagement, accessibility, and culture are woven into every aspect of the Rotary experience, rather than treated as standalone efforts.
If you would like to join others in our District in this effort to broaden our reach into our communities and celebrate all that Rotarians bring to our organization that makes us so effective in bringing peace, hope, and goodwill into everyday lives, don't hesitate to get in touch with me so I can include you in our upcoming conversations.
Wishing everyone the very best during this holiday season,
Mike Carrier
