Over 110 Rotarians from around our District joined us for a wonderful weekend last month for our District Celebration 2023! – our first in-person District conference in four years. The two themes of Youth & Storytelling pervaded the conference, with workshops and Friday night keynote presentation on storytelling by HollettEarle (follow up with Chris & Shari at www.hollettearle.com), and after dinner on Friday night, a youth hosted trivia night (thanks to Damon at www.trivianightslive.com the Norwich University Rotaract Club & the Lincoln-Woodstock Interact Club!). On Saturday, we showcased youth talents, travel & service projects at noontime, held an Offers & Needs Market to explore the nature of giving and receiving, participated in a literacy service project designed to stoke the curiosity of local 3-5 year olds and their families this summer, and enjoyed a fabulous keynote speech by internationally renowned author Chris Bohjalian (catch up on his latest books at www.chrisbohjalian.com). It also turns out that Rotarians love to dance & dance we did on Saturday night, compliments of John J. Entertainment (www.johnjentertainment.com). On Sunday, it was time to remember those Rotarians whose memories remain with us, wonderful curated by Past District Governors Marilyn Bedell & Richard Fox. It was a magical weekend & this DG thanks you all for making it such a great success!

Plus de 110 Rotariens de notre district se sont joints à nous pour un merveilleux week-end le mois dernier , pour notre célébration de district 2023 ! – notre première conférence de district en personne en quatre ans. Les deux thèmes de la jeunesse et de la narration ont imprégné la conférence, avec des ateliers et une présentation principale du vendredi soir sur la narration par HollettEarle (suivi avec Chris & Shari sur www.hollettearle.com), et après le souper , une soirée jeu-questionnaire pour les jeunes ( grâce à Damon sur www.trivianightslive.com le Norwich University Rotaract Club & le Lincoln-Woodstock Interact Club !). Samedi midi , nous avons démontré, les talents des jeunes, des projets de voyage et de service , organisé un marché des offres et des besoins pour explorer la nature du don et de la réception, participé à un projet de service d'alphabétisation conçu pour attiser la curiosité des enfants locaux de 3 à 5 ans et leurs familles cet été, et ont profité d'un fabuleux discours d'ouverture de l'auteur de renommée internationale Chris Bohjalian (retrouvez ses derniers livres sur www.chrisbohjalian.com). Il s'avère également que les Rotariens adorent danser et nous avons dansé samedi soir, compliments de John J. Entertainment (www.johnjentertainment.com). Dimanche, il était temps de se souvenir de ces Rotariens dont les souvenirs restent avec nous, merveilleusement organisés par les anciens gouverneurs de district Marilyn Bedell et Richard Fox. Ce fut un week-end magique et ce DG vous remercie tous d'en avoir fait un si grand succès !

Despite having to cross an international border to get here, the Rotary Club of Sherbrooke showed up with the most attendees to our District Celebration. They did so even though the very next weekend, the Club hosted their own Wine & Cheese Fundraiser. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Sherbrooke for showing us the true meaning of joie de vivre!
We are also thrilled to announce that the Rotary Club of Sherbrooke’s own Luc Pomerleau will be our District Governor in 2025-26! Originally from Magog in Estrie and father of two children, Dr. Pomerleau became interested in alternative approaches to health (tai chi, Chinese medicine and finally chiropractic) from the early 1980s. Luc graduated as a doctor of chiropractic in 1988 from the Canadian Memorial chiropractic college of Toronto (CMCC). He practiced in association and collaboration with colleagues in Montreal and Sherbrooke during his first two years of practice, and in September 1990, opened his own clinic in Sherbrooke. Please join our District in proudly welcoming Luc Pomerleau as our District Governor Nominee Designate.
Bien qu'il ait dû traverser une frontière internationale pour se rendre ici, le Club Rotary de Sherbrooke s'est présenté avec le plus de participants à notre Fête de district. Ils l'ont fait même si le week-end suivant, le club a organisé sa propre collecte de fonds Wine & Cheese. Merci au Rotary Club de Sherbrooke de nous avoir montré le vrai sens de la joie de vivre!
Nous sommes également ravis d'annoncer que Luc Pomerleau, du Club Rotary de Sherbrooke, sera notre gouverneur de district en 2025-26 ! Originaire de Magog en Estrie et père de deux enfants, le Dr Pomerleau s'est intéressé aux approches alternatives de la santé (tai chi, médecine chinoise et finalement chiropratique) dès le début des années 1980. Luc a obtenu son diplôme de docteur en chiropratique en 1988 du Collège chiropratique Canadian Memorial de Toronto (CMCC). Il a pratiqué en association et en collaboration avec des confrères de Montréal et de Sherbrooke pendant ses deux premières années de pratique et, en septembre 1990, a ouvert sa propre clinique à Sherbrooke. Veuillez vous joindre à notre district pour accueillir fièrement Luc Pomerleau en tant que notre gouverneur de district désigné.

Many of our members joined Past District Governors Eric Denu & Jamie Milne at a Membership Workshop on Friday afternoon at Jay Peak, and a Membership Open Discussion on Saturday afternoon as well. Eric & Jamie provided useful tips & tricks for expanding Club membership, offered ideas and insights for those Clubs that are experiencing membership challenges, and always kept the focus on why we work hard to grow our membership – because growing membership means expanding our positive impact on our communities & the world. Thank you to Eric & Jamie for their wonderful contributions to our Celebration!

Beaucoup de nos membres se sont joints aux anciens gouverneurs de district Eric Denu et Jamie Milne lors d'un atelier sur l'adhésion de nouveau membres , le vendredi après-midi à Jay Peak, et d'une discussion ouverte , le samedi après-midi également. Eric et Jamie ont fourni des conseils et astuces utiles pour augmenter l'adhésion au club, ont proposé des idées pour les clubs qui rencontrent des problèmes d'adhésion, et ont toujours mis l'accent sur les raisons pour lesquelles nous travaillons dur pour augmenter notre adhésion - parce que l'augmentation ,signifie étendre notre impact positif sur nos communautés et le monde. On Saturday morning at Jay, CommonManForUkraine philanthropists Susan Mathison, Steve Rand & Alex Ray, along with The Plymouth Rotary Club, showcased its extraordinary efforts in assisting Ukrainian children displaced by the war in Ukraine. Rotarians are people of action, and this Rotary/CommonMan initiative has impacted thousands of lives by its efforts over the past year.
